This year Pendleton Parish Council elections coincide with the Ribble Valley Borough Council elections on 2 May 2019. If you wish to take an active part in local government and represent the views or make a difference to your community, we would like to hear from you.
The Parish Council meets four times a year (February, May, August and November). Councillors may spend some time between meetings on parish council matters or certain projects depending on their involvement.
A wide range of training for councillors is available, covering role and responsibilities, law and procedures, planning, council finance, budget and precept, and employment issues.
If you would like to get involved with your community, have a say about local issues, influence the way local services are provided and decide how local money is spent then you will need to complete a Nomination Paper (see information below) which must be hand delivered to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Council Offices, Church Walk, CLITHEROE, BB7 2RA on any working day after the date of the Notice of Election (26 March) between the hours of 10am and 4pm but no later than 4pm on Wednesday 3 April.
The link below provides information regarding the qualifications for standing, candidate spending, the campaign, your right to attend key electoral events and what to do after the declaration of results. It is a very useful page and may help potential candidates decide if they want to stand and if they qualify to stand.
To find the nomination paper, on Part 2a click on “Click here to view resources for Part 2a: Standing as an independent candidate” and the papers are there. You will also need to print out and return an Expenses Form (Part 3) and send it to Ribble Valley Borough Council by 30 May even if it is a nil entry.
For more information, assistance or to book a slot for submitting your nomination papers contact Ribble Valley Borough Council on 01200 425111.
